A recipe for beautiful skin no matter what age you are and what season it is: three minutes for a skin analysis and a range of cosmeceuticals tailored to your complexion.

Cosmetics with active ingredients with therapeutic effects. Now the skin gets what it needs most. All you need is an analysis at the beauty treatment parlour.

They are classified between pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Their advantage over cosmetics comes from the presence of chemical compounds, which can modify the functions of skin cells. This used to be reserved for pharmaceuticals only, therefore – more than 30 years ago – Professor Albert M. Kligman, a dermatologist, introduced the term ‘cosmeceuticals’. The products have both cosmetic and therapeutic or supportive effects.

Plan a revolution
Your complexion undergoes constant changes, depending on your current state of health, the weather and even your mood. That is why your favourite cream suddenly does not work any longer. In search of a solution we often yield to advertising, ending up with another miracle product which does not help, either.

The Swedish company SkinPlan found a way out of the vicious cycle of skin care. Over two decades of scientific research carried out by specialists in biochemistry, biomaterials and dermatology have resulted in the development of Skin Analyzer 302 – a medical analytical device. It takes just three minutes to determine the condition and types of your skin based on numerical data. The results are fast and unbiased.

Thanks to the Skin Analyzer the following can be measured or checked:
* Amount of moisture (water) slowly lost by the organism through callous layers,
* Amount of produced sebum, acting as a sealant which reduced the loss of moisture,
* Production of sebum, especially in young skin with a high (excess) sebum secretion,
* Deterioration of the protective barrier function of the skin which has been damaged by detergents and excessive callosity,
* Changes in the protective function throughout all seasons,
* Requirements of the skin.

It is the only system to analyse the state and condition of the skin along with its type.

A conditioning prescription
On the basis of the analysis results a kind of prescription is generated, listing a specific set of individually-selected cosmeceuticals from the SkinPlan range. After three weeks of application a follow-up visit is necessary. The first effects are visible at the end of that period and a new set of cosmeceuticals is administered at the second visit. The following visit falls two months later. This system makes it easy to monitor the changes caused by the cosmeceuticals and select new ones accordingly. There is no room for mistakes. The skin, depending on the nature of issues, gradually improves, as the patted-in creams and applied facial masks or peelings contain active ingredients at their highest allowable concentrations. This is why they are so effective.

An international plan
The idea of SkinPlan cosmeceuticals was conceived in Sweden, yet they are manufactured in a modern facility in Germany, according to the European Pharmacopeia. Their ingredients are expensive, top quality Swiss and German compounds, such as ceramides, hyaluronic acid, fatty acids, linoleic acid and glycosaminoglycans. Other active ingredients are nearly nature-identical to those found in human skin. These also include oils, such as jojoba oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, sesame oil, coconut oil, soybean oil and lanolin. Combinations of those ingredients help to stabilise and maintain the complex intercellular matrix of the skin. They prevent irritation of the skin surface thanks to deep penetration and have antibacterial and supportive effect on the immune system. In Poland they are available from PLN 140 (tonics, milks and gels) to PLN 320 (creams and serums).

A space test
In September 2006 Skin Analyzer 302 was chosen from a number of devices to analyse the properties of human skin in space. The device was used for research at the International Space Station lab, where ageing processes and changes of skin conditions in space environment. The report was published in 2008.

Also for the doctors
The Swiss SkinPlan does not forget about doctors. For them, a professional line of cosmeceuticals – Dermo Clear – has been developed. The product line comprises five cosmeceuticals: chemical peelings available in two concentrations:

- 20/20 (20% glycolic acid and 20% fruit acid in a buffered solution with pH 3.0)

- 40/20 (40% glycolic acid and 20% salicylic and lactic acid in a buffered solution with pH 2.5)
Primary Cleanser (a cleansing tonic), Peeling pH Neutralizer and Restorative Cream.

Dermo future
This year SkinPlan is going to launch a new professional cosmeceutical for doctors from the Dermo Texture line – a deep-moisturising mask for medical beauty treatment rooms. For patients, two new products are planned for the coming year: a balsam with collagen, chistosan and hyaluronic acid (Dermo Copy line) and a series of pharmacologically active nutritional cosmetics (nutraceuticals) with the brand name of DermoBalance, designed to provide quick improvement of the condition of skin.
